Est. reading time:

London is a lovely city. There is always something new to discover, and the familiar places are always pleasant to return to. We went to the most famous sights of London.

This visit was only for a couple of days, like all my previous visits to what used to be the world’s most important city. I had decided not to award this particular visit a separate entry, but then I browsed my photo albums and rediscovered some really nice pictures.

We were returning home from a round trip of Ireland and Northern Ireland (one of my blogging projects still in the pipeline). In central London, we spent the days walking the streets. We also went on a half-day excursion to the royal palace of Windsor.

Now, what is London? Read this introduction from Wikipedia.

The largest and capital city of both England and the United Kingdom is London. There are just under 9 million people living there. It has been a significant settlement for two millennia and is located on the River Thames in south-east England at the head of an estuary that runs for 80 kilometres down to the North Sea. The City of London, the city’s historic core and financial hub, was established by the Romans as Londinium and is still included within those of the Middle Ages. The national government and parliament have historically been located in the City of Westminster, which is to the west of the City of London.
