Images from a road trip through the regions of Lazio, Umbria and Toscana (Tuscany). Several World Heritage Sites and several cities as well as picturesque countryside impressions are presented in this collection.

Pictures from all the major sights of Milan, Italy. The trip started at Lago di Como (Como Lake) and the World Heritage Site of Crespi d'Adda.

If Italy is a boot, the island of Sicily is the ball. In reality it is picturesque. The images in this gallery are from a short visit to Taormina and Etna, the volcano. There was actually an eruption going on.

San Marino is a nice little city-state in Italy, the last reminiscent of what Italy was like more than 150 years ago. The photos included in this little gallery are from the castle hill area.

Italy is a country consisting of a peninsula delimited by the Alps and several islands surrounding it. Its territory coincides largely with the homonymous geographical region. Italy is located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, in Southern Europe; it is also part of Western Europe. Italy is a unitary parliamentary republic with Rome as its capital and largest city. Italy has an advanced economy. The country is the eighth-largest by nominal GDP (third in the European Union). It is the eighth-largest by national wealth and the third-largest by central bank gold reserve. It ranks highly in life expectancy, quality of life, healthcare, and education. The country is a great power and it also has a significant role in regional and global economic, military, cultural, and diplomatic affairs.

As a reflection of its cultural wealth, Italy has the world’s largest number of World Heritage Sites (58). It is also the fifth-most visited country.
